What Flexible Natural Stone™ Is

Flexible Natural Stone™ (Eco-Flexi MCM) is a modified inorganic powder composite building decorative material — also identified as MCM Flexi Clay or Unfired Clay Material. It is manufactured from kaolin and quartz as primary mineral constituents, stabilized with polymer binders, and formed into thin flaky-solid panels that flex, curve, and conform to non-planar architectural substrates.

The material is not a quarried stone slab, laminate, or printed surface. Its stone-like appearance derives from its mineral composition — kaolin and quartz account for over 97% of the material by proportion. The panel is odourless, insoluble in water, non-flammable, and chemically stable under standard building conditions.

Inorganic mineral content (Kaolin + Quartz): Over 97% of the material by composition. This inorganic mineral dominance is the basis for the material’s non-flammable classification and chemical stability.

Hazard classification: This product does not belong to dangerous goods. No hazard classification applies under standard transport and handling regulations. The material is not acutely toxic, not carcinogenic, and not classified as a reproductive or mutagenic hazard. Eye contact may cause irritation — standard PPE applies during installation.

Why Mineral Composite Outperforms Vinyl and Plastic Surface Products

Peel-and-stick vinyl tiles, plastic stone-look panels, and PVC-based wall cladding are widely available at low cost. They are also petroleum-derived, non-recyclable, and contribute to persistent plastic waste at end of life. Flexible Natural Stone™ is a mineral-based material — the difference is not aesthetic. It is compositional.

On recyclability: At end of life, Flexible Natural Stone™ panels can be mechanically ground down. The resulting mineral powder — primarily kaolin and quartz — is re-introducible as raw input material in new MCM composite production. No landfill disposal required.

On specification risk: Vinyl and plastic surface products are increasingly subject to indoor air quality restrictions, green building certification exclusions (LEED, WELL), and municipal plastic waste regulations. Specifying a mineral-based, non-PVC surface eliminates this category of compliance risk from the project record.

What Flexible Stone Eliminates

Conventional wall finishing requires taping, mudding, sanding, priming, and paint finishes — multiple trades, multiple cure cycles, and significant lead time. Flexible Natural Stone™ eliminates all of it.

The system has two requirements: a substrate that is firm, stable, and NBC-compliant, and an appropriate adhesive. Apply adhesive, bond the stone, allow to cure. That is the complete process.

Substrate compatibility: Flexible Natural Stone™ bonds to drywall, concrete, masonry, cement board, and existing cladding — provided the surface is firm, stable, and NBC-compliant. No mechanical anchoring or structural reinforcement required for standard wall applications.

Panel layout: Staggered or seamless butt-joint installation — determined by the design intent of the project, not by structural requirement. Both methods are valid on any compliant substrate.
